Staxel Mods

Alloy Modding APIAlloy is an API for developing code-based Staxel mods and plugins.Caution: Currently nothing more than an experiement, probably won't work on the latest Staxel version as this hasn't been updated in a while. Rune factory frontier kross. I've been busy with other projects since I started this but maybe it will be useful for someone else! How does it work?Alloy doesn't need to use or distribute any code from Staxel. It instead patches Staxel.dll (the bulk of the game's code) on the user's machine to include the mod loader. When Staxel is initialized, the mod loader will load mods which can interact with the game via the injected code in the patched version of Staxel. The idea currently is to use the minimum amount of IL code injection possible.

I'll add more to this later, but let's just say I like to dabble in game modding. So far, I've modded about three games, one on Steam, and two old N64 ones. These are:

  • Staxel
  • Mario Party 2
  • Mario Party 3

I am particularly happy with how these all turned out, and aside from the first major Staxel mod I made, I still think all of them work.

Here's an example I decided to show after a user asked about my Mario Party 3 work:

If you're somehow not almost 30 years old like me, this is from the original Paper Mario. This board replaces Chilly Waters in the MP3 files, and has custom scripts for the ? Spaces. Pretty fun to make, but I used premade scripts some other users had made, which is fine by me since making my own requires knowledge of MIPS assembly.. Steredenn game.
