Review:Amanita Design has always been a very curious game development studio, and I mean that in the best of ways. From Samorost 1 & 2 to Machinarium, they have always presented unique and charming games with a dash of weirdness, great music and a lot of heart. Rather than break the flow with text or lengthy dialogue, every game is an experience in exploration and storytelling through actions and imagery, sights and sounds.

Not many games pull this off well, but Amanita consistently does. Now they have done it again with their new point and click adventure, Botanicula.Botanicula is about a bunch of five friends, little creatures who set out to save their tree from an evil parasite infestation. Your journey will take you from the vibrant top of the tree to its dark and grimy roots. While the plot is simple, it's hard not to care about this lively, colorful world which is having all its life sucked out by parasites, leaving it black and crumbling.You control not one, but all five of the little creatures at once. They move as a group, only breaking off to perform a specific task on screen or work together in tandem to accomplish a goal or puzzle.

The friends - an acorn, mushroom, twig, seed and feather create a wonderful little band with endearing animations and sounds.Speaking of puzzles, the game is filled with clever challenges. Some are one off instances to solve, while others are smaller pieces of a greater puzzle you must figure out to progress. Early puzzles are fairly simple, such as getting past a barking bug or using your twig character to sneak around some hostile bugs and grab a feather. Later puzzles get more complicated and test your spatial awareness and pattern recognition skills, but they are never hard enough to be frustrating.One of the many great things about this game is there's no wrong way to do things. There's no rush, and you are free to wander each section of the tree, clicking on everything, watching and smiling as leaves rustle, bugs interact, bumblebees fly about and various creatures spring out and play music or sing.Visually, Amanita Design has created a wondrous masterpiece. It's a striking look, a hand-drawn tapestry of insight into the most minute detail of nature and insects. Chapter 1

11 Creature Cards, 3 Feathers

Click on the 7 seeds on the tips of the tree branches.

Click on the large brown creature to see it is missing 3 feathers. Go up.

Keep clicking on the black spiked creature and the leaves it hides behind, until you finally get a creature card. Click on the 2 small twigs until they bloom, then click twice on the green creature behind the top left leaf and he will fall off the screen. Go down and up again to get a creature card. Now head left.

Click on the 4 brown twigs here until they bloom and you will get another creature card. Now click on the small leaf near the top, then pull the spider down and click on his balloon to get a creature card. Head left again.

Click on your Mr Twig to get the 1st feather and another creature card, then return right and go up. Click on the red pod to release an insect. Go down and up again to get a creature card. Now return down, right and up.

Click on each of the red creatures with hats to get another creature card. Go back down, then up to the right and up again.

Click on the brown leaf 4 times and another feather will fall out; you will automatically go down to where it falls into a hole. Click on Mrs Mushroom and Mr Feather to find 2 creature cards. Click on Mr Lantern to retrieve a shell from the hole. Click on the shell to get the 2nd feather. Keep clicking on the shell to get another creature card. Now go right.

Click on the 3rd feather to get it. Now return left twice and down.

Click on the large brown creature to give it the 3 feathers and get the final creature card for this chapter. Head down.

Chapter 2

18 Creature Cards, 5 Keys

You will automatically get a creature card. Go down.

Click on the small round creature, then go left. Click on the bee hive, then on the fruit that is knocked down and you will get a creature card. Go up to the left.

Move the red blossom around inside the chamber with your mouse so it goes out throw the top left vent, then the top middle vent and finally the far right vent, then get the 1st key. You will also get a creature card here. Return right then down to the left.

After meeting the spider you will automatically escape to the right. Click on the black and white leaf to receive a map of this chapter. Head down to the right.

Click on the cone creature until it starts buzzing; repeat this with the next 2 that appear, then with the final 4 that appear. If you get all 7 buzzing at once a large cone creature appears and you receive a creature card. Enter the mouth of the large one. Click on the green cone creature inside to see a key on the string. Have Mr Poppyhead try to get this, then click on all of your other guys to help him, before picking up the 2nd key. Now head down.

Click on the black creature to see a story and get another creature card. After this, head up, right and left.

Click on the pecking creature 3 times to get 2 creature cards, and also click on the green leaf to get another creature card. Now head right 3 times.

Wait here until a large musical creature drops from the sky, then click the smaller rattling creature to scare it away and get a creature card. Continue right.

Pull the long red spike down towards the branch and wait for the rattling creature to get on to it, then let go to get a creature card. Click on the large green spiky creature to get it to move, and you will automatically get the 3rd key. Click on the smaller green spiky creature on the right to get another creature card. Now return left twice and go down.

Click on the red creature once to make him come up, then 3 more times for him to lose his shell. Click on the shell to get a creature card. Now go right, left, up and right.

You can make the small red creatures jump by moving your mouse up from beneath them; make the largest of the 3 small red creatures jump into the funnel to get a creature card. Now head up to the right.

Click the green ball on the left of the vertical branch to get a creature card, then click on the stick insect on the right of this branch 4 times to get another creature card. Head up.

Click on the red egg, then follow the white flying creature down. Click on it again and follow it to the right. Click on it, then click on the 3 red eggs it lays to get a creature card. Get the 4th key from the nest, then go left, down and right.

Try to take the 5th key and you will end up in a beehive. Click on Mr Twig to have him point downwards. Click on the red twig tip, then on the right branch, left branch and left branch to get the key and a creature card. Go right to get another creature card and be returned to this screen again. Go over and undo the 5 locks to get inside the pod.

Chapter 3

6 Creature Cards, 5 Dreams

Rub the lamp to meet the genie and get a creature card. In this section you now click on each character to be taken to a specific wish area.

Mr Feather

Click on the white ball to reveal a band, then click on the 6 instruments to have them all playing at once. Click on the left musician's mouth to have him sing along. Finally click on the triangle to get a creature card and return to the genie.

Mr Twig

Pull the red handle down, then wait for the present to be delivered. Click on the present to get a creature card and return to the genie.

Mr Poppyhead

Click on the seed to force it off the seesaw, then click on it again. Finally click on the spaceship after it lands on the moon, to get a creature card and return to the genie.

Mrs Mushroom

Rotate the orange crank handle clockwise until the ferris wheel starts turning, then click on the yellow creature to get a creature card and return to the genie.

Mr Lantern

Untie the red knot to catch the spider and get a creature card.

Chapter 4

21 Creature Cards, 3 Babies

Click on the little green creature on the left and place it on the larger green creature on the right to get a creature card. Now head to the right. You will automatically get another creature card; head up then continue left.

Drag the dandelion left and right until it is bare, then click on it to get it and a creature card. Return right, then go up, right, and down to the right. Click on the yellow slug, then give him the dandelion to get a creature card and be transported to the next area.

Click on the crying creature to see it has lost its babies, then head right. Click on the red hanging creature to get a creature card. Click on the bee on the right to make it fly left, then click on it again and quickly click on the carnivorous leaf so it eats the bee; you will get another creature card. Now head right and down.

Click on the frog in the water 4 times so he jumps up to the branch. Click on all 4 frogs here to hear a song and get a creature card. Continue left and click on a brown crab creature to be scared away. Return left to the crabs and you will end up getting another creature card and reaching a new area below.

Now you need to click on the water pod at the top to get water to bounce down to the branch. By clicking on the other pods you can direct its flow to the different sprouts along the branch. If you water each sprout you will create a ladder going upwards, as well as reveal a pod next to the ladder. Click on the pod to get a creature card, then go left.

Click on the small moving worm to the left and use Mr Feather to retrieve it. Return right and go right once more. Click on the 1st baby on the right, then use Mrs Mushroom to get it. Go left, and follow the creature up. Head up to the right to find a fisherman. Talk to him, then give him the worm and you will get a creature card. Pick up the brown crab and you will get another creature card. Next go up to the left, then up again and up to the right.

Pull the leaves off the branches, and the small jumping monkey will eventually jump inside a hole; you will automatically look inside. Click on Mr Twig's eye twice to get a creature card. Go down to the left to see a large bat, then continue down to the left again.

Click on the fly in the background, then after it is drunk move your mouse cursor over it to have the nectar fall into the funnel-shaped creature. Once enough nectar is there you will get 2 creature cards; return to the right.

Pull the large bat down to see another creature on the branch above it. Click and hold on the funnel creature then release a large bubble; pop this on the large bat and the other creature should fall down (you will get a creature card). Pick up the beetle, then go right twice.

Use your crab creature from your inventory on the web holding the spider up to get a creature card. Continue right. Pick up and throw all of the sheep in the pile to get a creature card, then click on the 2nd baby. Go down to the left twice, then up to the left to return to some cocoons.

The Four Leaf Clover increases the catch rate of wild Temtem if the players Temtem out in battle is holding this item. Players can find the Four Leaf Clover in the Aguamarina Caves located inside of an item box. Each Temtem has a specific catch rate. Weapon shop fantasy guide. The Four Leaf Clover is an item that makes it easier to catch Temtem.

Click on the smallest cocoon, then the medium one and finally the large one to get a large flying creature to appear, and receive a creature card. Go up to the left.

Click on the long-legged creature to free one of its legs, then drag this leg to your branch to create a bridge and get a creature card. On crossing the bridge, quickly use your beetle creature on the flying creature to get another creature card. Go up to the left.

Wait for the pigs to fall asleep, then climb up the branch above them. Click on the acorns, then when the pigs wake up jump on the large brown one to save the 3rd baby and get another creature card.

Head left and click on the creature to see another story video and get a replacement card. Now return right 3 times, down to the left and left once more and get another replacement card.

Chapter 5

28 Creature Cards, 14 Birds

Go down the hole to the outside, then enter the nearest small house on the left.

Click on the mounds of dirt on all 6 pedestals to attract the bees, then wait and you will get 2 creature cards. Click the yellow bean over the 5th tree to light up the background area. Click on the balloon over the 1st tree, then click on the man with the red hat. Click on his hat when it reaches the mountain, then pick up the red plant. Go back outside, then enter the small house to the right.

In this house you need to blow the horns on the right to make animals. Blow the bottom horn first, then depending on what head appears, proceed as follows:

  • frog: blow the bottom horn and top horn to get a creature card
  • snail: blow the bottom horn twice more to get a creature card
  • bird: blow the bottom horn and middle horn, then get the 1st bird

Now enter the small pink house on the far left. Click on each of your characters in turn to have them drink some water, then complete a small mini-game (after completing it, click on the same character again to be revived).

Mr Feather

Move the bubble around with your mouse, and pop it on the spiky ball that eventually appears.

Mr Twig

Guide the bubble towards the same funnel 5 times (it doesn't matter which one you choose).

Mr Poppyhead

Move your bubble left and right to catch the small bubbles, and catch the bubble containing the bird. Click on this 2nd bird to collect it.

Mrs Mushroom

Click on bubbles to pop them until you fall through the bottom.

Mr Lantern

Run backward and forward to build up momentum, and you will eventually have enough speed to reach the target at the top.

After completing all 5 sequences, you will receive a creature card. Head outside and go up to the larger purple house. Click on the Shaman here to find out he wants a seed in exchange for his egg. Return outside and enter the small brown house just down and to the right. Click on the Collector here, then give him your red plant to get a creature card and the 3rd bird. While you are here, turn around the picture with the long white plant, and pick up the coin that drops to the floor. Go outside and enter the largest red/pink building on the right.

Click on the swinging bucket to make a creature appear with a ladder. Do it a second time to get a creature card. Now click on the igloo on the right to get another creature card, then pull the bird out of the snowman on the left and click to get the 4th bird. Click the igloo twice more and pick up a 2nd coin. Keep clicking on the igloo until a penguin gets stuck coming out, then drag it out. Click on it and drag it up to get another creature card, then leave here and enter the large house to the right.

Click on the creature playing the game, then click on Mrs Mushroom. Win the volleyball game 3 times to get a creature card, then click on the 5th bird. Now head outside, and over into the large green pear-shaped house.

Wait for the creature carrying the seeds to arrive, then click on the seeds to make him drop one, and pick it up. Shake the pepper over the sleeping creature on the right to get a creature card. While the chef is distracted, take the 6th bird. Go back outside again and enter the small pink elephant-shaped house to the right.

Open the oven behind the chef to see the bird; give the seed from your inventory to him, and you will get the 7th bird. Open the top green drawer and take the 3rd coin. Now you need to find the 4 shadow creatures:

  • Click repeatedly on the blue jar over the chef's head
  • Drag the lid of the other jar on this shelf straight upwards
  • Move your mouse over the hanging pots on the far right
  • Move your mouse over the pipe at the top of the room

You will now get a creature card. Go outside and enter the house on the left over the lowest section. Open the closet in here and use the jar to catch the fireflies at the top of the room; you will get the jar and a creature card. Take the sleeping 8th bird and you will automatically head outside.

Enter the next house just to the right. Remove the plug from the wall on the right. Open the pink umbrella to get the 9th bird. Open the safe on the left by turning the valve twice, then click on the toast creature to get it and a creature card. Drag each of the balloons down over the spring, then click on the spring to pop them and get another creature card. Head outside again and go to the small room to the very far right.

Click on the jack-in-the-box 3 times, then grab the 10th bird before it disappears again. Click on the jack-in-the-box repeatedly until you get a creature card. Leave and enter the large brown boat-shaped house just left of the midline near the top.

Use your jar of fireflies to bring light to the hanging lamp, and you will get a creature card. Pull down on the tightrope, then let go when the bird is in the middle, and click on it to get the 11th bird. If you don't have all of the coins so far, you can get another by clicking on the creature in its nest on the far right. Leave and enter the small room second from the far left.

Insert all 3 of your coins in the vending machine, then get the 12th bird. Go outside and straight back in. Wait for the frog to be jumping beneath the stork's beak, then click on the stork to get a creature card. Now you can leave again, and enter the light brown house in the very middle of the area. Use your toast creature on the bird here to get the 13th bird and a creature card. Go back outside and head all the way left to reach another branch.

Click on the large seed in the middle of the screen to get a creature card but lose Mr Lantern. Go down to the left to find a large hive. Pull the cork out of the bottom, then head inside through the hole. Make your way through the maze (when you reach a dead-end you will get a creature card). Once you reach the middle, click on Mr Lantern until he is free again, and you will return to the first branch area.

Enter the large purple house at the top left to find the Shaman again. Give your seed to the Shaman to get a creature card, then pick up the egg and head outside. Enter the small red house at the right of the bottom area.

Pull the switch on the right to awaken the monster and get a creature card. Click all 5 cuckoo clocks to get another creature card. Quickly click all 6 horns to get another creature card. Go outside and straight back into the same house. Put your egg on the raised platform, then pull the switch on the right to hatch it; you will get the 14th bird. Leave and head back to the house right at the top to return the birds and end up with 3 creature cards.

Chapter 6

Botanicula walkthrough part 8

34 Creature Cards, 4 Element Boxes

Go down to the left and click on all 9 worm-like creatures to get a creature card, then continue down to the left. Click on the pyramids to release a whole lot of flies, then click on the frog to get him to eat one; you will get a creature card. Pick up the blue seed, then go down to the right.

In this low gravity area, you need to bounce over to the top right of the screen. Bounce on to the small creature at the bottom left, then click on this creature to move it out of the way. Click on the medium-sized creature on the small island twice to move it to the top, then click once on the medium-sized creature at the middle island to move it to the bottom. Bounce on the left creature to reach the top island. Next jump down to the smaller island to the right. Click on the medium-sized creature on the island you just left, and click once on each of the two creatures to the right. Bounce on the medium-sized creature to your right and you should reach the top right island. Now head right.

Pick up the 2nd blue seed. Now click on the nearest creature to move it to the left, then jump down next to it. Move the 3rd creature to your left, then 2nd to your left. Click on the one nearest the bottom twice, so it climbs on to a small branch. Now jump on the creature to your left, and you will reach the bottom. Move the second creature to the right, then the one just to your right to put it on the large one's back. Click on the larger one again and they will both head right. Now jump just to the right, then on to the small branch. Take the 1st element box, and you will also get a creature card. Jump on the largest creature just below you to leave this area.

Jump to the island up to the left, then onto the medium-sized creature on the bottom left island to return to the top left path, and head left. Continue left to a creature with a large mouth, then go up to the left to find a roundabout.

Move your mouse cursor over the 3 creatures, then quickly follow them to the next screen. Move your mouse cursor over them again to get a creature card, then go back to the previous screen. Now go straight up, then up to the left. Click on the puppet show 6 times to get a creature card, then return right and up to the roundabout. Next head down to the right, then left to reach a massive crossroads.

Take the passage directly to the right (3 o'clock). Pick up the horn and you will get a creature card before automatically returning left to the crossroads. Now go down to the right (5 o'clock). Click on the creature to see another story video and get another replacement card. Return to the crossroads, and this time head left (9 o'clock).

Wait for a creature to drop from the sky, then pull its tongue out and shake it up and down to wake the massive turtle creature. Wait until it starts eating and you will get a creature card. Now pick up the 3rd blue seed. Head right, up, down, right, up to the right, right, and down to the right to reach a very dark room.

Click on the creature here, then give him your horn to light the room and get a creature card. Click the black creature at the bottom to get another creature card. Now to get to the bottom, take the left doorway, then the bottom right doorway, then the top right doorway; quickly pick up the 4th blue seed before you are scared away. Now go through the middle right doorway to reach the upper section.

Head through the bottom right doorway, then the upper right doorway; after falling down and climbing up, go through these same 2 doorways again. Take the 2nd element box, and you will leave this area.

Go left and your characters will be stuck to a central rock by a gravitational force. Drag each of the colored balls free from the walls so they stick as well. Now drag one of your characters as far away as possible and release it to break the rock. Click on the yellow ball 13 times, then take the 5th blue seed. Working around, click the right purple planet twice, the bottom right blue planet 3 times, the bottom left green planet once, the left red planet 3 times and the top left blue planet twice to get a creature card. Now head left again.

Click on the yellow star and quickly but carefully drag it through the maze to your characters. You will also get a creature card. Return right twice. Click the 3 mushrooms here to get another creature card. Head up twice to find a creature rocking its baby. Move your mouse cursor over all the tendrils of the white creatures on the ceiling to get a creature card. Click on the baby creature to see its mother feed it. Go down and click on a small mushroom to see the mother come and get it, and you will get another creature card. Now head to the right.

Chase the deer around the screen with your mouse cursor to get a creature card. Click on the black worm creature, then give it the star from your inventory. Click on the golden worm creature to split it into two. Click on these worms to move them around until you get another creature card. Pick up the 6th blue seed from the right, then pull the beach ball away from the left wall until it is free, and pick it up. Return down to the left, then up twice, and head left.

Click on both of the two-headed creatures to get a creature card. Continue left to the blue seed tubes. Pick up the 7th blue seed and it will enter the middle tube in the ceiling. Use your other 6 seeds in this tube - you still have 1 left to find. Head left, then up to the left. Give your beach ball to the creature at the bottom and you will get the large eye. Move each of the other creatures around here to get a creature card. Go back up to the right and right again, then head down.

Click on each of the bouncy creatures here and note how long your characters bounce on them. To get them all bouncing at once, quickly click on them in this order: green, yellow, pink, brown, orange. Now click on any of them to get a creature card. Head down to the left.

Click on the large yellow creature, then give him his eye back. Click on him again to get a creature card and to head underwater. Move your mouse over the drifting creatures to get another creature card. Head left twice, and drag the hanging eye of the large white creature to attach to the yellow creature; you will get another creature card. Now go down to the right twice, then straight down again to find a large rock creature. Detach the eye from your yellow creature and attach it to the rock creature. When it is lifted from the ground, take the 3rd element box from underneath. Now move your mouse cursor over all 7 rock creatures to get another creature card. Next head up then right, and move your mouse over the jellyfish to get a creature card. Go down and get the 8th blue seed. Go up then right and move your cursor over these different floating creatures to get yet another creature card. Go up twice.

Click on the large peanut creature to start a racing mini-game - just drag the central mushroom controller to move your beetle around the track faster than your opponent. When you win, quickly click on the right red creature to knock the hat off the peanut while it is still jumping up and down; you will get 2 creature cards. Pick up the helmet, then click on your yellow creature again. Head up to the left and move your mouse over the floating black creatures to get another creature card. Continue left then up to exit the water. Now return right and up to reach the blue seed tubes again. Use your 8th seed in the middle tube, and you will get a creature card and the 4th element box.

Return to the circus by going left twice. Click on the cymbal hanging from the ceiling twice to lower it, then go down to the right. Give your helmet to the creature here, then stand beneath the cannon and light the fuse. You will end up with 2 creature cards as long as the cymbal was placed correctly. Go up to the right, then right and down to return to the bouncy creatures. Go down to the right to reach the temple. Talk to the floating creature to give him the element boxes, and you will end up with 3 creature cards.

Chapter 7

5 Creature Cards, 6 White Spheres

You start in a black room. To go in any direction you must try twice, first to find the door and second to go through. Start by heading right.

In this section you need to click on your character, then move your mouse over an enemy. The number of red dots on the enemy indicates the number of times you must shoot it to kill it. The first screen contains 5 single shot enemies and one requiring 3 shots. The second screen contains 5 single shot enemies, one requiring 2 shots and one requiring 6 shots. The third and final screen first gives you two small enemies, then a large number of small enemies. Click on the white sphere and a large creature needing 17 shots will appear. Kill this, then get the 1st white sphere. Go back to the black room to get a creature card. Now head up to the right.

Here you need to lower all the monsters by clicking on them. Clicking on one will raise that one and lower one or two others. Make sure all are lowered, then go and take the 2nd white sphere; you will also get a creature card and return to the black room. Next head straight up.

The guard creature will capture you and place you inside a pod. Click on the next pod and quickly enter it while the guard is distracted. Click on the next pod and enter this one in the same way. Now click on the first pod again and quickly enter the pod with the white sphere. In this way you will get the 3rd white sphere. Leave this room to get a creature card. Now go up to the left.

Click on the white sphere, then quickly click on the big red monster's legs, and it will collapse to the floor. Chase it around the room and it will split into five pieces. Now move your mouse over the white sphere until it is at the second position from the left. Click on the red blob beneath it to start a mini-game. Click on the red goo at the bottom to send pulses upwards to move your character around. Move your character to the 4th white sphere to collect it. Leave the room to get another creature card. Now go left.

There are 4 snake creatures in this room. Click on their heads in a specific order (bottom right, top left, top right, bottom-left) to tangle them up. Quickly click on the white sphere to make the knot tighter, then collect the 5th white sphere. Leave the room and you will get the last creature card. Finally head down.

Click on the black creature to complete the game.
