I just completed RIVE and I’m curious how its difficulty stacks up to Hollow Knight or Ori and the Blind Forest, both of which are high on my wishlist.I realize that I’m comparing different genres, but for those of you who have played RIVE and one (or both) of the others, I’d love to hear your opinion. I’m sure I died hundreds of times (especially on level 9), but I was eventually able to get good and I had fun in the process.I hadn’t played any video games since the 360, and then it was mostly Oblivion, Skyrim and Call of Duty, so I’ve missed these newer platformers, having only gotten a Switch this past XMas. I did pick up and run through Guacamelee:STCE, which I enjoyed quite a bit and didn’t have nearly the amount of trouble I had with RIVE. Basically, I’m hoping to avoid wasting my money on games I’m not likely capable of completing. For those that haven’t played RIVE, it’s on super sale right now on the US eShop. If you’re looking for a tough twin-stick shooter with some platforming mixed in, you can’t go wrong for $1.49. I’ve found Ori to be fairly easy-the only things that’s stopped me from playing it recently is some controller issues on my pc due to buying a cheap nasty controller.

Goldfish pinball blast fun. Thank you, goldfish. Sc00by-d00by, Dad came back 👨🏿 EPIC WIN!!!My dad 👨🏿 left 🏃🏿‍♂️ when I was 3 🤣Luckily 🍀I found this game 😋 and as soon as I downloaded it ⬇️ I heard a knock on the door 🚪😲 ⬅️ (me when I heard the knock) I answered the door 🙉 ITS WAS MY DADE!! We sold our wedding rings to buy all five of our kids iPhone Xs to play this godsend of a game.

A typical play through comes in at around the ten hour mark-I’m on around eight hours and I think I’m roughly 2/3 of the way through.Hollow Knight is harder than Ori IMO, and there’s more of it. In comparison with Rive, I’d say they’re on the same level of toughness but for different reasons. Rive is tough because the controls are a bit twitchy and it throws a lot at you. Hollow Knight on the other hand doesn’t really throw hoards at you like Rive, but what you do face can be challenging, especially when you haven’t learnt the bosses’ tells.I would actually recommend Shovel Knight as the middle ground between Ori and Hollow Knight.
