Just take a look at the success of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000, in which you get to pilot a plane from one airport to the next (In real time), during which your most dangerous obstacle is the occasional stray pigeon, and you'll understand what I'm getting at. Microsoft Train Simulator's strongest feature is its realism.

Submitted on Review title of AndrewGood Little GameI know this sim is basic but as I remember the developer did it for his child first on Andriod. And unlike a lot of other games there are no further in app purchases, the developer seems to update the program on a regular basis and it has improved a lot since the early days. But really it is just something to do in your spare time, I don't mind the basic controls as it just makes it easier to use. Keep up the good work thing are getting better. Submitted on Review title of NigelTrain Sim - Total RubbishThis is poor - You only have 3 buttons to speak of Speed up, Slow down and break. Plus a bell and a horn. Nice selection of trains but as game play very basic even a 5 year old would get fed up very quickly.

Glad I used the trial period first, as I would have cried if I had paid for this app. Take the chance a play for free so you see what we mean but don't pay for it. I will give it 1 star and that's just for the choice of trains you could select.

Submitted on Review title of MichaelA dissapointmentHaving been forced to pay £1.49 to get some reasonable experience of this game, I am not at all impressed. Whilst the scenery is well-produced, there is otherwise very little realism in this game. The signals seem meaningless, there are no speed restriction indications, and it would be far more interesting to drive a passenger train with a schedule to keep to. Since when does the Flying Scotsman steam locomotive have a whistle that sounds like a diesel loco horn? It would also be nice to see and hear some classic British diesels such as the Class 37 or Class 50. It is also extremely irritating that the speed indicator keeps disappearing and, for that matter, the speed is understated.
